Canada today went ahead and extended ban on commercial, private passenger flights from India until September 26, 2021, at 23:59 EDT. This means that once the restriction on direct flights expires, the flights to India will resume and travelers will be eligible to enter Canada and be able to board direct flights from India to Canada. However there are some conditions that the travelers needs to follow:

  • Conditions:
Travelers must have proof of a negative COVID-19 molecular test from the approved Genestrings Laboratory at the Delhi airport taken within 18 hours of the scheduled departure of their direct flight to Canada.
  • Prior to boarding, air operators will be checking the travelers’ test results ensuring they are eligible to come to Canada, and that fully vaccinated travelers have uploaded their information into the ArriveCAN mobile app or website. Travelers who are unable to meet these requirements will be denied boarding.

Airlines will refuse boarding to any traveller who’s unable to meet these requirements.

The ban on flights from India started on April 22, 2021 due to the spread of the COVID-19 Delta variant in the country. The news will surely bring Smile to Thousands of International Students and other travelers who have been patiently waiting for the flights to resume.
